The Madison Greenhouse Store offers high quality seeds year-round for both the adventurous and nostalgic grower.  We do not sell any GMO seeds. Our carefully curated selection includes many cultivars that will thrive in Wisconsin's climate as well as some hard to find, uncommon plants. We carry many heirloom varieties and offer organic seeds whenever possible. We proudly sell seed packets from four of the best American seed companies that are working hard to preserve our cultural heritage.

Baker Creek

Based in Missouri, the Gettle family boasts the largest selection of heirloom varieties of any American company. Baker Creek carries one of the largest selections of seeds from the 19th century, including many Asian and European varieties. The company has become a tool to promote and preserve our agricultural and culinary heritage.

Botanical Interests

Since 1995 they have been supplying gardeners with the highest quality seed in the most beautiful and informative seed packets on the market. Their passion for spreading gardening wisdom led them to create a unique seed packet that is not only beautiful, but is also filled with facts, tips, recipes and quality seed. When they realized that the venerable tradition of American families passing their gardening lore, techniques and even secrets from generation to generation was fading, Curtis and Judy knew they had to help preserve all that knowledge.

Seed savers

Seed Savers Exchange is a non-profit organization based near Decorah, Iowa, that preserves heirloom plant varieties through regeneration, distribution and seed exchange. Their mission is to conserve and promote America’s culturally diverse but endangered garden and food crop heritage for future generations by collecting, growing, and sharing heirloom seeds and plants.

High mowing

Vermont based High Mowing Organic Seeds is the only fully organic and non-GMO certified seed company in the United States. It was founded in 1996 with just 28 varieties, many of which originated in founder Tom Stearns’ backyard. As they've grown, they have continually worked to produce, develop and sell only the best quality organic seeds for varieties selected for their exceptional performance in organic conditions. True to their roots, High Mowing Organic Seeds continues to grow many of the varieties we sell on our 40 acre farm, setting us apart from the majority of other seed companies.
